Professional Development
The Caterpillar’s Cove is different from other child care centres in that
it is managed by SEED Institute. Our students volunteer in our classrooms and use
the facility for their assignments, which can range from the simple observation
of child development to the design and implementation of an ethical research
project that is approved by the Advisory Committee for Best Practices. The Programme
assists in the preparation of the full time Diploma in Early Childhood Education
as well as the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Educational Studies and
Leadership students who are placed in the programme classes for field experiences;
these range from relatively short periods of observation to spending many hours
per week in the classes over a period of months. The programmes also serves as
a training site for child care administrators and service providers who are interested
in enhancing the quality of services in their own programmes. |
